Data Loggers
A data logger can be a connected or wireless data collecting apparatus which can record and save a wide range of information over time or in relation to an environment either with a built-in sensor or via an external probe. Increasingly, but not entirely, they are compact and powered by batteries or even solar panels, the data logger can be stand-alone, plug-in devices, with an internal microprocessor and built-in memory for data storage.
Many data loggers have the option to use an already incorporated sensor to measure data while other data loggers make use of more advanced communications, such as software, mesh-networking and mobile apps, this technology can sync up with external sensors, which are placed and marked in varying locations of an environment. The data user can then apply set intervals for the data that has been collected to be saved to a database or online platform. This enables the data to be analysed and applied according to application needs.Ā
Data loggers are required for a multitude of reasons, frequently to ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations (GxP), and quality and environmental control procedures. They also help to save costs through energy efficiency/environmental management or reducing wastage of non- compliant or damaged goods.
